Communication Without Assumptions

There’s a very real gap between what you think they know and what they actually know.

This month, one thing kept showing up in my inbox and in my own house. We assume our person already knows things we've never actually said out loud, how big a moment feels, what a habit really means, what we're grateful for. Then, we're surprised when they didn't know.

The wedding industry gives you a script for one day. Once the music fades, the script disappears, and what's left is two people who have to actually say things to each other instead of assuming the other one already knows.

This month the Love for a Lifetime community tried to notice one assumption and spoke about it instead of letting their partner guess followed by practicing asking instead of deciding you already understand.
